How the Charleston Evaluation Engine Works
The Charleston Decision Assistant analyzes your dealt rack against all valid hand families on the 2026 National Mah Jongg League card using a multi-factor mathematical scoring model:
- Natural Pair Weighting: Because pairs cannot be formed with Jokers, the algorithm assigns highest priority to preserving natural pairs and matching cluster tiles.
- Cluster Density Analysis: Evaluates suited density across 3-number spreads (e.g. 2-4-6 vs 1-3-5 vs consecutive runs 4-5-6).
- Intersection Ranking: Identifies target hands that share overlapping tiles, giving you backup hand paths if incoming passes change direction.
- Discard Isolation Scoring: Detects isolated winds, single honors, or orphaned suits that contribute 0 value to your top 3 ranked hand candidates.
